Advanced Modeling Methods
Advanced Modeling Methods aims to educate students to foster shop etiquette and culture, developing approaches, which not only improve work product, but the working environment. The course focus is on hands-on full-scale and scaled making, choosing an appropriate modeling method for the intended purpose, experimentation versus planning, and a trial and error process. Students explore how varying degrees of intent, audience, and fidelity, influence a project’s time frame, final finish, and conceptual purpose. Students are instructed on advanced use of hand and power tools/machines along with digital modeling methods and techniques via workshops and demonstrations. These active modeling skills prepare students to make better informed decisions around material optimization and manufacturing alternatives.
