Artist Statement

The work depicts various settings and the interaction of the inhabitants

with each other and the environment. The narratives of the work are based

upon common archetypes seen in entertainment and news media along

with our expectations of the situations derived from the media images.

Illustrating the odd subtleties of the everyday iconographic image that have

been engraved in our imagination. The subject matter being criticized but

adored at the same point, these images are recreated with reverence in a

perfect model world. The use of the diorama allows a critical perspective of

the viewer, allowing the viewer to separate himself or herself from the subject,

through the god-like perspective that a scale model permits. The model

imagery is a sort of faux realism, appearing real is a mass-produced

manufactured plastic scale replica painted and photographed to appear real,

directly correlating with a stereotype as a representation. The mass-produced

model is, in and of itself, the media stereotype being a generalized scale

representation of the world it represents.
